Jenny Wheeler is convinced there is no better time than now to be a woman, but if she was faced with making a second choice it would be 1860s California – the setting for her historical mystery series Of Gold and Blood. With a Bachelor of Arts in history and art history from the University of Auckland and a stellar former career as journalist, magazine and newspaper editor and blogger, Jenny comes to fiction later than most and is determined to maximise every waking moment . . \nWhen she’s not writing she loves to get out in the beautiful New Zealand countryside – hiking, gardening or just taking 6am fast walks twice weekly with her gym mates – cooking for those closest to her (food gets lots of mentions in her books) and keeping her brain fired up reading music and playing the flute. Oh and of course non stop reading. She’s a born book worm and as a teen walked into a lamp post while reading a book on the way to the dentist.
